From 26 to 28 June, this year’s G7 Summit will take place under the German Presidency at Schloss Elmau. While two African heads of state, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Senegalese President Macky Sall, the chairperson of the African Union, have been invited to the summit, the African continent as a whole will play a major role at the summit in view of current global and geopolitical developments. On the one hand, the global climate crisis requires joint action by the G7 and African states. On the other hand, the looming food crisis due to the interrupted wheat and fertiliser supply chains and rising food prices in the context of the Ukraine war will be a central issue. The results of the summit thus have a direct impact on Germany’s Africa policy, which will be defined by the new German government.
Against this background, the German Africa Foundation and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce cordially invite to a summer reception in honour of the African diplomatic corps. After an official discussion on the results of the G7 Summit and German-African relations, the reception will enable a free exchange between the African diplomatic corps and German political and economic decision-makers in a friendly atmosphere.
