In the past four years, Africa has moved more into the centre of German political debates. The parties present their positions on Africa in their election programmes. There are clear differences in the level of detail, the focus and the objectives of the parties represented in the Bundestag, which allow initial conclusions to be drawn about the future direction of Germany’s Africa policy. The following brief analysis highlights the basic structures and changes compared to the programmes from 2017. The election programmes in the four areas of 1) economy and development, 2) peace and security, 3) digitalisation and climate protection, and 4) cultural exchange and visa issues are examined.
