Stève Hiobi, better known as „Dein Bruder Stève“, uses his social media to talk about current developments in Africa, as well as African history and politics. In doing so, he also sheds light on colonial legacies and their impact up to the present. In his posts, he particularly focusses on stereotypical portrayals of the African continent, as well as issues of racism and discrimination and advocates for a nuanced and fact-based engagement with Africa. In his book “All about Africa: Was Du über den Kontinent wissen solltest“ (Engl. „All about Africa: What you need to know about the continent”), Hiobi, who works as an IT consultant, further explores these topics, placing them in their historical and political context. In doing so, he contributes to challenge widespread stereotypes about the continent and to highlight the diversity of African societies.
Born in Cameroon and raised in Germany, Hiobi, who describes himself as „Afrofluencer“, succeeds through his posts in promoting a more realistic image of Africa and creating space for alternative perspectives. At the same time, he makes these topics accessible to a broad audience and sparks interest in Africa. In recognition of his commitment, he is being awarded the Honorary Award of the German Africa Foundation 2026.
