On 21 June, the German Africa Foundation had the opportunity to meet the President of the Republic of Botswana, H.E. Dr Mokgweetsi E. K Masisi, for a working meeting. This meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views in a safe space on bilateral relations between Botswana and Germany and the recent events that had overshadowed them with regard to alleged import bans on hunting trophies. Other topics of discussion included international politics, the transfer of knowledge between the two countries and the future of cooperation. Following the talks, the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana hosted the Botswana-Germany Business Roundtable, at which DAS Secretary General Sabine Odhiambo moderated the panel discussion ‘Fostering Strategic Partnerships: Leveraging Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth in Botswana’.
