Afrikapost aktuell: Elections in Zimbabwe- No Change in Sight?
On 23 August, the polls will open in Zimbabwe. In addition to the president, parliament and local representatives will also be elected. The stakes are high – the country is in an ongoing economic crisis and the political environment is also tense. The presidential election will be a race between the current president Emmerson Mnangagwa of ZANU-PF on one side and presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa of the CCC on the other. In the run-up to the election, which is also regarded as a crucial indicator for the (future) orientation of the country‘s foreign policy, both parties appear confident of victory.
