The outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023 triggered the largest humanitarian crisis in the world and forced millions to flee their homes. Since then, civil society actors have been providing life-saving aid under extreme conditions – but their voices are often not heard. An event organised by a broad civil society alliance focused on the following questions:

What different forms of local civil society engagement exist in Sudan and what challenges do they face? What instruments are available to provide targeted and sustainable support for civil society engagement in Sudan? What contribution can and should the new German government make to peace policy in Sudan?
