First held in September 2021 as a symposium in memory of Franz Ansprenger to honour Prof Ansprenger’s contributions to German African research and to address the current state of scientific engagement with Africa and to network currently active African researchers with representatives from politics and business, the German Africa Foundation has followed the wish to perpetuate and expand this event format in order to contribute to the shaping of German Africa policy by bringing together expertise from academia and practice.
