For the first time since it was launched in 1997, the World Water Forum will be hosted in sub-Saharan Africa. After last year’s postponement due to Corona, the 9th edition of the world’s largest event on water and sanitation will be held in the Senegalese capital Dakar from 21 to 26 March 2022.
Under the theme “Water Security for Peace and Development”, experts will meet with political and economic decision-makers, civil society and the private sector to jointly find sustainable solutions in the field of water supply and sanitation. Water security and sanitation, rural development, international cooperation and financial measures and tools are the thematic focal points of the conference, which aims to contribute to achieving important goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and the UN Agenda 2030/ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Against this background, the German Africa Foundation and the Embassy of the Republic of Senegal invited to a discussion with the Executive Secretary of the 9th World Water Forum, Abdoulaye Sene.
